IGLESIA PARROQUIAL DE EL SALVADOR

Ubicada en el centro de la población, rodeada por una característica plaza, construida en calzada con respecto al resto de la calle. Se trata de una imponente edificación que contrasta por sus dimensiones con el resto de edificios de la población y de templos de la zona. Fue construida en el siglo XVI sobre una iglesia anterior románica y se trata de un templo de gran esbeltez y sencillez del que destacan sobretodo la altísima espadaña con sus canecillos zamoranos (levantada sobre otra anterior, más baja) y los enormes contrafuerte que sujetan el templo. Aunque el exterior también ha sufrido importantes reformas, como la que afectó a la fachada del mediodía a mediados del siglo pasado, es el interior el más afectado con respecto a su concepción original ya que, el derrumbe de la cúpula en los años 30 destruyó la mayoría de retablos y otros adornos de la iglesia. Así pues su interior es sencillo: se mantiene el retablo mayor, del siglo XVI, con la imagen de Nuestra Madre y la del Salvador, obra del escultor toresano Pontejo. También se conserva el retablo de la Virgen del Rosario que, hasta hace pocos años, ocultó otro retablo, tallado en piedra y unas antiguas pinturas que hoy están recuperadas. La sacristía también se encontraba abovedada hasta la restauración de la iglesia en los años 90 pero no se pudo conservar la bóveda; también se han perdido importantes alhajas y pinturas que según las informaciones llegó a tener la iglesia en otros tiempos.
